He hates them with an intensity that burns in his heart and nothing can stop it, because he hates them." El-Sayed won the Democratic primary in his state yesterday and gave several interviews over the past day in which he repeatedly emphasized his positions against US military aid to Israel. In an interview with CNN, he again stressed his opposition to unconditional military aid to other countries at the expense of the welfare of US citizens. He also expressed his opposition to arms deals "made with countries that allegedly violate international law," referring to Israel. El-Sayed stressed that he does not distinguish between offensive and defensive weapons. He noted that he opposes US funding for the Iron Dome system and that he does not understand why "US taxpayers fund foreign armies while children here barely get to study in proper schools." El-Sayed, a former senior official in the US public health system, ran against Congresswoman Haley Stevens, who has been elected to Congress four times. Stevens belongs to the mainstream wing of the Democratic Party and received support from the party establishment and AIPAC. If El-Sayed defeats the Republican candidate and enters as a representative of Michigan, considered an important state on the American political map, it could affect Senate policy toward Israel.
