According to Israeli sources, if this indeed advances, the other issues under discussion, mainly the nuclear program and the uranium stockpile, will remain shrouded in fog, and it is unclear how and whether negotiations on the matter will be conducted. Earlier this evening, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said at his country's government meeting that progress has been made in negotiations with Oman, and that the talks on the Strait of Hormuz are in the final stage before conclusion. Last week, the Wall Street Journal reported that Iran and Oman are discussing an agreement to open the Strait of Hormuz. According to the report, Oman proposed establishing a regional framework to oversee maritime security, funded by regional states and the maritime shipping and oil industries. According to the newspaper, Iran discussed the proposal but demanded control of the strait and collection of fees, contrary to the position of Oman and the United States. It was also reported that mediators are now working to achieve a ten-day ceasefire that would include opening the strait and lifting the American blockade on Iran's ports.
