Unknown individuals smashed at least four tombstones in the Jewish Quarter section of the military cemetery on the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem. The incident occurred one day before the funeral of Staff Sergeant Yehuda Katz, the last missing soldier from the Battle of Sultan Yacoub in the First Lebanon War, who is to be buried nearby. The police opened an investigation but have not yet reported on the incident. The IDF announced that on the night between Monday and Tuesday, Katz's bones were located in a joint operation with the Mossad. The Battle of Sultan Yacoub, which took place on June 11, 1982, was one of the most difficult of the war: 20 killed, dozens wounded, and six missing. Three of the missing were declared fallen soldiers whose bodies were not returned for decades. The body of Staff Sergeant Zechariah Baumel was returned seven years ago, and that of Staff Sergeant Tzvi Feldman last year. Katz's funeral will be held tomorrow, departing from the study hall of the Kerem B'Yavneh Yeshiva at 8:30 AM, with the funeral ceremony beginning at 10:00 AM in the military section on the Mount of Olives.
