The head of the Druze council, Nazih Dabour, announced the cancellation in a letter to the village residents, explaining that the decision was made to prevent bloodshed, after nearby Muslim villages allegedly threatened to blow up the event. The official statement read: 'Strength does not lie in one side breaking the will of another, but in preventing bloodshed today and ensuring that fear does not dictate how we live tomorrow.' A source familiar with the details told mako that sheikhs in the village opposed Ben Zaken's performance, as in their opinion she would attract Muslims from nearby villages, and threatened to block roads and throw Molotov cocktails. Additionally, it was noted that yesterday they gathered the youth at noon prayers and incited them against the event. The festival was also supposed to feature 'The Revivo Project.' The festival website officially announced the postponement of the performances. No response has yet been received from Ben Zaken.
