The Tiberias Municipality is demanding the closure of the distribution center operating in the heart of the city, in the tourism and business area, due to complaints about the presence of addicts and homeless people harming the sense of security. The merchants, led by Maoz and Drori, warn of attempted thefts and harassment, and claim that enforcement is insufficient. They plan a protest on Sunday, August 16, at Gan Ha'ir, between 12:00 and 15:00, with police approval. The municipality confirmed that it demanded the closure in a meeting with the operating association, with the participation of a Tiberias police representative. Mayor Yossi Naba'a and municipality CEO Shimon Finian demanded the closure. A resident, Sagi, said that walking in the city center has become frightening. In July, the municipality conducted a broad enforcement operation, including fines to vendors and addicts, 31 cleanliness fines, 16 alcohol cases, 22 traffic fines, and three for noise. The merchants claim they did not feel a change. The committee published a notice of broader protest, including claims of tax increases, economic difficulties, and dirt. Talks are ongoing between the merchants and the municipality CEO for a solution.
