This is the most significant arrest so far in the grenade wars, perhaps except for Mosley's own arrest. Vahl, considered the number 2 in Mosley's organization and a primary target of the Tel Aviv District Police's Central Unit, was arrested by officers of the Northern District. However, he denies the allegations and provided an alibi: "I wasn't in the north at all during those dates. I am a religious man; during the Three Weeks period I don't leave the house. The only time I came to the north was after Tisha B'Av, when I went on a vacation with my wife and children in Tseria, after the dates you're talking about." Vahl appealed his arrest and requested immediate release. In the appeal, his attorneys argue that the police have not yet checked the alibi he provided. The hearing on the appeal has been requested to take place tomorrow. The police also attribute to him involvement in additional incidents as part of the grenade war, including throwing at least two fragmentation grenades at his own home in Herzliya.
