Thousands of drivers in Israel face sanctions: fines and seizures

A large-scale traffic police operation has started in Israel, during which thousands of drivers have faced heavy fines and removal of vehicles from the road. The operation is part of a national emergency plan to combat road accidents. Since Thursday, the police traffic division has deployed enhanced enforcement measures across the country, from north to south. The main goal is to increase road control, eliminate dangerous drivers, and reduce accident fatalities. The measures are taking place during the summer vacation period when traffic intensity sharply increases. About 500 cars and motorcycles are involved, both overt and covert patrols. Hundreds of police officers, detectives, and volunteers participate. The forces are equipped with modern technological tools, including tactical and stationary cameras, laser speed detectors, the 'Dvora' system, and other digital instruments. Control is focused on pre-identified high-risk zones as well as central and urban highways. The main focus is on serious violations: speeding, distracted driving, lane departure, and running red lights. Special emphasis is placed on violations by drivers of motorcycles, scooters, and electric bicycles. Traffic police chief Haim Shmueli emphasized the need for constant presence and tough measures.
