There Were Enough People in Likud to Replace Benjamin Netanyahu - One Thing Prevented It

MK Dan Illouz, who left Likud and moved to Yisrael Beiteinu led by Avigdor Lieberman, said in an interview with 103FM that there were enough people in Likud to replace Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu after the October 7 massacre, but one thing prevented it. Illouz stated that whoever was prime minister on October 7 should be replaced, and that a healthy country needs incentives: if you are good, you continue; if you are prime minister during the worst disaster since the Holocaust, you should be replaced. He added that if even after such an extreme event the leadership does not change, it indicates a deep problem in the political system. Illouz criticized Netanyahu, saying his main goal was to survive the term to the end, and he was willing to sell everything to make that happen. He explained that the decision to leave Likud was inevitable, and pointed to cooperation with Yisrael Beiteinu on issues like the law to close UNRWA and the decision on sovereignty in Judea and Samaria. In conclusion, he said he was among those who thought the leadership should take responsibility and change, and if there is a juncture where he can bring that about, he will be part of it.
