Therapist convicted of sex crimes against children arrested at Ben Gurion Airport after 11 years

A 50-year-old therapist, who posed as a physiotherapist and was previously convicted of sex offenses against minors, was arrested last night at Ben Gurion Airport upon his return to Israel, about 11 years after he fled. Police attribute to him suspicions of additional sex offenses against minors in the Haifa and Krayot area, and will request today to extend his detention.

A 50-year-old therapist, who according to police posed as a physiotherapist and was previously convicted of sex offenses against minors, was arrested last night at Ben Gurion Airport upon his return to Israel, about 11 years after he fled the country and was declared wanted for questioning. Police attribute to him a series of suspicions of additional sex offenses committed against minors in the Haifa and Krayot area. According to a police statement, the Zvulun station opened an investigation in 2015 following suspicion of sex offenses against minors on several occasions during 'treatments' the suspect provided to them, and among the victims were also children with cerebral palsy. About a month before the complaint was filed, the suspect left Israel, was declared wanted for questioning, but was not located over the years. Last night, upon his landing, he was arrested at the airport, transferred to questioning at the Zvulun station, and imprisoned. The police will request today from the Krayot Magistrate's Court to extend his detention.
