Police in the US are searching for Zamir Hughes, 22, suspected of donning a "Chucky" mask and chasing about 16 passersby in downtown Philadelphia. The incidents occurred in the early morning hours of August 12 near City Hall. According to police, over about 15 minutes the suspect was recorded aggressively approaching passersby, chasing them, and filming some encounters on his cellphone. In one case, he approached a 40-year-old woman, hid his hand behind his back, and asked if she was "ready to die." The woman fled, fell, and was injured. Another young woman who was attacked confronted him and kicked him — after which he fled the scene. "It was clear he wasn't ready for me to kick him," she said. According to her, the blow left him confused and he fled. After the story was published, Wilson became a well-known figure in the city, receiving memes and fan illustrations on social media. Security footage allowed police to also reconstruct the suspect's escape route. After the harassment, he entered Suburban Station, where two transit officers ordered him to remove the mask. He lifted it only slightly but managed to get away from them. He was later recorded boarding a Route 33 bus and returning to his apartment in North Philadelphia.
