Germany suspects Russia is behind an attempted drone attack at Leipzig/Halle Airport. Investigators found an additional drone west of the airport, along with about 50 grams of a substance suspected to be hexogen (RDX), a powerful military-grade explosive. German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said the government is working closely with security authorities and will soon be able to inform the public who is behind the attempted attack. His remarks follow a joint investigation by NDR, WDR, and Süddeutsche Zeitung, which revealed that several drones were involved in the operation. The BKA, Germany's Federal Criminal Police Office, is leading the investigation under the direction of the Federal Prosecutor General. Investigators are also examining the possibility that another drone struck a DHL cargo plane shortly after the airport was temporarily closed. Moscow denies involvement in sabotage operations in Europe, and no public evidence directly linking Russia to the attack has been presented so far.
