An Egyptian source familiar with the details said today (Sunday) to the Saudi newspaper Asharq Al-Awsat that arrangements are being made for a quadruple meeting of the mediators - Egypt, Qatar, the United States, and Turkey - during the current week, with the aim of ensuring the implementation of the understandings of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip. According to him, "the intense Egyptian contacts build on a more significant role and pressures from US President Donald Trump on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu." The source explained that intense Egyptian contacts are underway to strengthen the first step after the understandings reached within the framework of the Gaza agreement, by holding the 'quadruple meeting', preparations for which are now proceeding at an accelerated pace. He noted that the American envoys, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, are expected to arrive in the region soon to arrange this preparation. He further added that the mediators are building on a more significant role from the American president, and the contacts rely on his direct involvement to ensure the completion of the main steps and to exert pressure on Netanyahu, against the backdrop of leaks about reservations regarding the understandings or possible obstacles from his side until the elections in Israel. He also noted that a gradual entry of the "technocrats committee" into the Gaza Strip is expected, and emphasized that "the issue is not about the identity of the people but about ensuring their entry and presence, and ensuring that Israel does not take steps that would thwart this move, and this is the top priority at this stage." On the same topic, a source in the Hamas organization also told the Saudi news site Asharq that the mediators in the Gaza negotiations informed the organization that Israel will completely stop "the attacks and all aerial and artillery bombing operations and demolitions" in the Strip, starting today. The source explained that the mediators updated Hamas that the Peace Council received Israel's approval, "within the framework of its position confirming the agreement," without further details. He added that "the mediators are making every effort to bring the agreement to implementation on the ground," and noted that "a supervisory committee on behalf of the mediators and an international investigation committee will follow up on the implementation process of the agreement." He emphasized Hamas's commitment and that of the rest of the Palestinian factions to implement the agreement, and demanded that the mediators oblige Israel to implement it precisely. Another source familiar with the negotiation details told Asharq that the mediators and Hamas "expect to receive the official Israeli response regarding the Gaza agreement after its government meeting on Monday," and assessed that "the biggest challenge lies in the extent of Israel's commitment to implementing the agreement."
