The pioneering enterprise: 1.1 million dunams preserved by agricultural farms

The Farms Association has published the first map in a decade showing the extent of agricultural holdings in Judea and Samaria, the Jordan Valley, and the Judean Desert. According to the association, the farms preserve over 1.1 million dunams through grazing and agriculture. For every built-up dunam, nearly six agricultural dunams are preserved. The association calls for expanding the presence to an additional million dunams in Area C.

The Farms Association has published a first-of-its-kind map in a decade, revealing the extent of agricultural holdings of farms in Judea and Samaria, the Jordan Valley, and the Judean Desert. According to the association's data, the farms currently preserve over 1.1 million dunams through grazing and Hebrew agriculture. For comparison, the built-up areas of settlements and cities in the region span only about 200,000 dunams, so for every built-up dunam, nearly six agricultural dunams are preserved. The map shows a wide network of Jewish presence and land cultivation from the Jordan Valley to the southern Hebron Hills. The association clarifies that in Area C, over a million dunams remain where expansion of agricultural presence is required, in order to prevent foreign takeover and establish Israeli hold. In the past year, new farms have been established and herds expanded. Over 23,000 partners support the Farms Fund. The association quotes the saying: "Where the Jewish plow passes – there our border will pass."
