The October 6th Conception? Border Police Believe There Is No Need for 24/7 Security in the Jerusalem Envelope Communities | First Publication
A letter obtained by Walla reveals that the Border Police believe there is no need for continuous 24/7 security in the Jerusalem envelope communities, against the backdrop of the IDF's intention to end the activity of Home Front Command soldiers in mid-October. Officials in the communities and the region sharply criticize this stance, warning of a return to the pre-October 7th conception.
A letter obtained by Walla reveals that the Border Police believe there is no need for continuous 24/7 security in the Jerusalem envelope communities. The letter, distributed to community secretaries and security coordinators, addresses the security arrangements for the communities after the end of the Home Front Command soldiers' (reservists) deployment, which has been in place since the beginning of the war. The IDF has officially announced that the activity will end by the end of the year, but the Border Police and communities received an indication of an earlier end after the holidays, in mid-October. The letter states that responsibility for organizing the guard system in the community rests with the local authority, and that there is no requirement for a continuous 24/7 guard. A source in the Judea and Samaria area criticized: "This statement is disconnected and does not correspond with reality." Another source warned of a return to the conception, eight months after a severe State Comptroller report warned of a flawed operational perception of the Border Police in the area. The Israel Police stated that the letter was intended to highlight the need for operational readiness towards the end of the Home Front Command soldiers' activity, not to change the security concept.
