Yair Golan, chairman of 'The Democrats' party, is considering reserving a slot for Yonatan Shmeriz, founder of the 'Kumo!' movement and brother of the late Alon (Lulu) Shmeriz, who was kidnapped to Gaza and mistakenly shot dead, on the party's list for the 26th Knesset. This was learned by 'Hayom'. Shmeriz, considered a moderate and consensus figure in the center-left camp, is identified with the struggle of the hostages' families. He simultaneously holds several offers from other parties and has already announced his entry into politics. Last January, Shmeriz said his goal is to be the Minister of Resilience, and at a conference at Reichman University he said: 'I decided I'm entering politics, I want to be the Minister of Resilience. From our generation will come salvation. We need to tell those in power: you were, you failed, you're done. Our generation has been absent too long from decision-making roles. It's our turn to decide what the country will look like in the future.' He added: 'I assume today politicians came here who spoke about you, not to you. It's hard for me to join existing political forces. I think we should continue to insist that we need to decide what the new Israeli story is, and a young political force is necessary today. Going to the ballot box is too late; we need to establish working teams now, because we are building the next State of Israel.' Shmeriz's office stated he 'will not comment on personal conversations with elements in the system and the political offers he receives.' The Democrats party had no comment. Shmeriz's name comes up after the storm published in 'Hayom' regarding the reserved slot being considered for Einav Zangauker. Golan has the right to reserve a slot in 2nd place or at the bottom of the top ten on the party's list.
