The memories that will last for generations: The National Library collects the memorial books of bereaved families
The National Library has launched a project to collect and preserve memorial books written in memory of the fallen and murdered since October 7. The project includes a three-month physical exhibition and a mini-digital site, and calls on the public to deposit additional books for future generations.
The National Library has announced a memorial project ahead of the third anniversary of October 7, centered on collecting and preserving books and booklets created in memory of the fallen and murdered. The immense loss experienced by Israeli society is reflected in the many memorial books written by family members, friends, communities, and organizations, alongside works left behind by the fallen and murdered. Starting October 7, the library will display for three months the exhibit "7.10 | Bound in Memory" - a display of memorial books and booklets. Concurrently, a mini-site will be launched on the library's website allowing digital exposure to personal stories. The library calls on bereaved families who have a memorial book or booklet that has not yet reached the library to deposit a physical and/or digital copy, to ensure the publications are preserved and accessible for future generations. The call is directed to all bereaved families of fallen soldiers in all of Israel's campaigns, as well as families of those murdered in hostile acts throughout the years of the state.
