The market is already pricing in poor service — and Chinese importers will feel it in the second-hand market
A JD Power survey in China shows that service quality is a decisive factor in brand loyalty in the Chinese car market. In Israel, however, there are no independent reliability surveys, and Facebook groups are filled with complaints about malfunctions and poor service from Chinese car importers. The gap between service in China and Israel could harm the value of Chinese cars in the Israeli second-hand market.
A JD Power satisfaction survey in China, which examined 13,078 car owners of 81 models, indicates that after-sales service quality is a decisive factor in brand loyalty in the Chinese car market. The brands Chery and GAC Honda received the highest score (817 points), above the industry average (789). In contrast, in Israel there is no independent body conducting similar reliability surveys. Facebook groups of Chinese car owners are filled with complaints about severe malfunctions: exploding radiators, peeling sunroofs, disintegrating gasoline engines, darkened screens, and especially poor service from importers. Importers struggle to provide adequate service due to the multitude of brands, a shortage of Israeli experts for complex systems, and the flooding of the market with cars. The gap between service in China and Israel could harm the value of Chinese cars in the Israeli second-hand market, as a reputation for poor service is priced into the market.
