Liel emphasized that the connection between the Turks and the Syrian leader al-Jolani is inseparable, and that al-Jolani is in power thanks to the Turks. According to him, the Americans support him thanks to the Turks, and his conflict with the Kurds in northern Syria was resolved thanks to them. Liel assessed that a direct war between Israel and Turkey is not expected, but noted that on Syrian soil the situation could deteriorate into direct confrontations. He mentioned that for over two years there have been no Israeli representations in Turkey, after the representatives were physically expelled. Liel argued that Turkey will not give up the invitation to enter and protect Syria, since Syria has no army after the fall of Assad.
