The lawsuit, filed through attorney Rachel Tzinquin, claims that the police severely failed both in preventing the murder and in investigating it. According to the statement of claim, police officers who were at the scene before the murder blamed the victim and did not prevent the attack, and after the murder they disrupted the investigation and bought time for the murderers. The plaintiffs argue that due to the severe investigative failures, which were exposed in a series of articles in ynet and Yedioth Ahronoth, no one was convicted of murder. The prosecution stated that they have not yet received the lawsuit.
