The operation is part of the effort to curb road fatalities, and joins additional measures already deployed: the placement of mobile tactical cameras, increased enforcement of speeding, and the introduction of dozens of new patrol cars. Chief Superintendent Shlomo Beno of the Traffic Division said: "There are drivers who say 'it won't happen to me.' We must remember that ultimately we are trying to stop the carnage on the roads; issuing tickets is not the goal." The use of drones as an enforcement tool is not new and today is an integral part of the officers' toolkit for monitoring offenses.
