A source close to Netanyahu told Channel 12 that the securing was meant to settle scores with Economy Minister Nir Barkat, who is suspected of leading a coup attempt within the party after October 7. According to the report, Barkat and Yuli Edelstein planned to replace Netanyahu through a constructive no-confidence vote in the Knesset, without elections. The move failed, partly due to the firm opposition of Minister Chaim Katz, who helped Netanyahu block it. Katz received a secured spot thanks to his role. Netanyahu intends to strengthen additional candidates to push Barkat down the list. Likud denied the claims, and Barkat welcomed Dobronsky's addition.
