The Circle Closes: Summer Camp for Children Growing Up in the Shadow of Cancer

The 'Jeremy's Circle' association held its second summer camp, 'Camp Jeremy', at Kimama in Beit Yannai, with 80 children and teens from grades 5-11. The five-day camp included surfing, enrichment, and forming friendships, and was held in cooperation with the American Camp Yavneh. The association, active for about 18 years, supports over 1,200 families and held more than 20 events in the past year. CEO Pamela Becker noted that the cooperation 'closes a circle' for her.

The 'Jeremy's Circle' association, active for about 18 years in supporting children and teens growing up in the shadow of cancer in their nuclear family, held its second summer camp, 'Camp Jeremy', at Kimama in Beit Yannai. 80 children and teens from grades 5-11 from across the country participated in five days of surfing, enrichment, and forming new friendships. The camp was held in cooperation with the American Camp Yavneh, which has been operating for over 80 years, and its counselors took part in the activities. The association, which currently includes over 1,200 families, held more than 20 events in the past year with an average of about 300 participants per gathering. Additionally, for the second year, it is sending a delegation of teens to Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. Pamela Becker, CEO and founder of the association, said that her family used to participate in Camp Yavneh in the US, and the experience inspired the establishment of the camp in Israel. According to her, 'the circle closes' in an exciting way with the joining of the American counselors, and she sees importance in the meaningful connections formed at the camp.
