Southern National Guard fighters of the Border Police arrested an 18-year-old, a resident of the Bedouin diaspora in the south, on suspicion of hiding a Glock pistol in an open area near the city of Rahat. The operation was carried out as part of the mission headquarters operating in Rahat, using a drone that documented the incident from the air. The footage shows the suspect removing an object from a vehicle and then fleeing on foot. The fighters closed in, arrested him, and a search nearby located the pistol wrapped in paper. The suspect was transferred for questioning at the Rahat station and his detention was extended in court. The police continue operations to locate illegal weapons in the south using technological means. Since the beginning of 2026, about 460 weapons have been seized in the Negev area, a significant portion of them in the Bedouin diaspora.
