The Southern District Attorney's Office today (Thursday) filed indictments with the Be'er Sheva District Court against 15 suspects, charging them with illegal arms trafficking, weapons offenses, and drug offenses. About two weeks ago, the police conducted a large-scale arrest operation following an undercover investigation. Among those arrested is Itai Sankar (39), a known criminal from Arad, who organized a deal to sell two pistols for 44,000 shekels. Ofek Maman (30) served as a courier and delivered the pistols to the buyer, who did not know it was an undercover police agent. The agent conducted numerous transactions with criminals and purchased pistols, rifles, explosive devices, grenades, ammunition, and drugs. The transactions were documented in photographs and audio recordings. The investigation was managed by the Eigar Unit of Lahav 433, and attorney Hadas Amar compiled the indictments. Alongside the indictments, requests were filed to detain the defendants until the end of proceedings, and the prosecution requested that they not be transferred to alternative detention due to criminal records and lack of deterrence.
