Ruby Chen, the father of Staff Sergeant Itai Chen, a Golani fighter who was abducted in battle on October 7 and whose body was returned to Israel after 760 days in captivity, said on the program "HaYisraelim" that Talik Goili, the bereaved mother of the late Ran Goili who was killed on October 7, apologized to him. Goili, who was placed on the Likud list for the upcoming elections, sparked controversy when she said in a video for Likud: "If the other camp wins, the memory of the heroes of the kingdoms will disappear." Many bereaved families were hurt by her words. Yizhar Shai, former Minister of Science and Technology and father of Staff Sergeant Yaron Uri Shai, responded harshly to her words, saying that her words do not honor the memory of her son or the memory of Israel's heroes.
