His foot remained on the accelerator, and the bus continued moving. Passengers noticed something was wrong: 28-year-old Tilda Ivarsson Viren was the first to see the bus nearly veer off the road. The driver briefly regained consciousness, opened the window, but then passed out and fell onto the steering wheel. Panic broke out in the cabin. 63-year-old Maria Hjelte and passenger Niranjan Nithyanandam rushed to help. They could not reach the brake pedal due to the driver's body. Passengers then steered the bus into a dividing barrier. The impact slowed the bus, and the driver's foot slipped off the pedal, stopping the vehicle. Paramedics found the driver conscious and took him to the hospital. Police reported that the fainting could have been caused by a stroke.
