Ten girls crossed the border from Israel into Lebanon today (Wednesday), saying they did so following violations by Hezbollah and intending to establish a settlement in the area. IDF and police forces operated to locate them, while the IDF also struck targets in southern Lebanon. As they tried to distance themselves from the forces, the girls said they had come to Lebanon to promote the establishment of a settlement, and that settling the area is necessary to preserve the achievements of the war and prevent a return to the situation that prevailed after the Lebanon wars and the fighting in Gaza. They further claimed that the government's policy on the matter has not yet changed, and that advocacy efforts are being made to influence public consciousness. They added: "We will take from you the land you took from us and settle it." Subsequently, the ten girls were arrested and handed over to police, and the IDF continued to conduct searches in the area to ensure no other girls had crossed.
