Temporary Changes to Train Service in the North: These Stations Will Close

Israel Railways announced infrastructure and track upgrade works in the Zevulun area, to be carried out between August 20 and 22. Trains on the Modi'in-Nahariya and Be'er Sheva-Karmiel/Nahariya lines will terminate at Haifa Merkaz HaShmona, and additional lines will not operate. Nahariya, Akko, Karmiel, Afula, and Beit She'an stations will be temporarily closed. Free shuttle services and increased bus service will be provided. Full service will resume on August 23 at 4:00 AM.

Israel Railways announced infrastructure and track upgrade works in the Zevulun area, scheduled from Thursday, August 20, 2026, until Saturday night, August 22, 2026. The works were planned for the summer due to relatively low demand, aiming to improve service and travel safety. As part of the changes, trains on the Modi'in Center-Nahariya line and the Be'er Sheva Center-Karmiel/Nahariya line will terminate at Haifa Merkaz HaShmona station and will not continue north. The lines between Haifa Hof HaCarmel and Karmiel, and between Atlit and Beit She'an, will not operate at all. Many stations, including Nahariya, Akko, Karmiel, Afula, and Beit She'an, will be temporarily closed. To accommodate passengers, the railway will operate a free shuttle service and increase regular bus lines. Train service will return to full operation on Sunday, August 23, 2026, at 4:00 AM.
