Two Middle Eastern diplomats told MS NOW that Oman has agreed to a framework agreement with Iran for a temporary opening of the Strait of Hormuz. An Iranian government source said the agreement includes new shipping lanes, entry via an Iran-controlled lane and exit via an Oman-controlled lane, with no tolls. The agreement is intended to lay the groundwork for a new ceasefire between Washington and Tehran and to resume negotiations on the nuclear program. The International Maritime Organization (IMO) and the US will be involved in the official announcement, and the arrangement has been approved by GCC states. Trump said at the White House that the war will end soon but refused to confirm that an agreement has been reached, warning that one mine could disrupt everything. He also accused Biden of giving weapons to Ukraine for free.
