Teenager falls to his death rappelling in Keshet Cave in Western Galilee

A 16-year-old boy fell to his death while rappelling in Keshet Cave in the Western Galilee. He fell from a height of about 40-50 meters, and an IDF helicopter was dispatched to the scene. The Galilee Carmel Rescue Unit located him unconscious, and after resuscitation attempts, his death was determined.

A 16-year-old boy fell to his death this evening (Sunday) while rappelling in Keshet Cave, a cliff about 40-50 meters high, in the Western Galilee. An IDF helicopter was dispatched to the scene, and the Galilee Carmel Rescue Unit located him unconscious. The report of the fall was received at 18:10 at the MDA 101 hotline in the Asher region. Police said that officers from the Nahariya station are at the scene after receiving a report of a suspected fall from height, apparently during rappelling, of one of the climbers. Paramedics from the MDA intensive care team, who also volunteer with the rescue unit, descended to the location using rappelling gear and, after resuscitation attempts, were forced to determine his death. The paramedics Maimon Gabai and Ligal Dror said they descended to the scene and saw the boy unconscious, without a pulse and without breathing, with severe injuries to his body, and despite advanced medical treatment that included resuscitation efforts, his death was determined.
