Teachers Identified as Terror Supporters, but Their Details Were Deleted on AG's Orders

MK Amit Halevi from the Likud party revealed in an interview on Gadi Taub's podcast that cross-referencing data between the Ministry of Education and the Shin Bet uncovered dozens of teachers who appear in Shin Bet systems with indications of supporting terrorism. According to him, the information about those teachers was destroyed on the orders of Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara, under the condition that the check would be conducted and the information would then be deleted. Halevi described the initiative he led with the security establishment: "I said, take all the ID numbers of the teachers, over 200,000, take the Shin Bet files, do a matching, just for ID numbers, and see who pops up." According to him, the Attorney General initially objected on privacy law grounds but eventually agreed. The cross-referencing results showed "dozens of teachers popped up with a Shin Bet indication." Halevi emphasized: "This is a ticking time bomb. This is the infrastructure, and we are neglecting the infrastructure because we are not identifying the enemy correctly." He expressed shock that the Shin Bet deleted the information: "You know there are fifty terror supporters, who are cultivating terrorists in the State of Israel, and you deleted it? What is this?"
