The Ministry of Education has issued a new director-general's directive that for the first time regulates communication between parents and teachers in schools and kindergartens. According to the directive, each educational institution will define and publish to parents the communication channels with staff and the times for contact, which will be set in consultation with teaching staff. In-depth conversations regarding a student's situation will take place after prior coordination. Parents will be restricted in entering the educational institution, which will only be allowed with prior coordination, and in kindergartens entry will be allowed during drop-off and pick-up times. The directive emphasizes that pedagogical, disciplinary, and organizational decisions remain under the authority of professional bodies. The national parents' leadership welcomed the decision, noting that the demand for email-only communication, which was at the center of the dispute with the Teachers' Union, has been dropped. The ministry stated that the move aims to create a common language between parents and the education system while preserving the status of educators.
