A district court in Moscow has issued an arrest warrant in absentia for Conor Kennedy, the 32-year-old son of US Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Kennedy is accused of "participation of a mercenary in an armed conflict or military activity" after enlisting in Ukraine's International Legion in the summer of 2022, instead of interning at a law firm. He served for about two and a half months on the northeastern front in the Kharkiv region, with no prior military experience. Kennedy, a scion of the Kennedy family and Taylor Swift's ex-boyfriend, hid his identity from his unit mates and his whereabouts from his family. His father, Secretary Kennedy, learned about it through credit card charges from Poland and Ukraine, and after initial anger said: "I am very proud of him." The expected punishment in Russia ranges from 7 to 10 years in prison. Ukraine rejects the definition of International Legion fighters as mercenaries.
