Israel's Tax Authority has warned citizens about a new wave of fraud: criminals are sending fake emails in the Authority's name, claiming that a tax violation investigation has been launched against the recipient. The goal is to gain access to personal data and accounts. The Authority stressed it has no connection to such emails and urged people not to click links, enter passwords, or ID numbers. Scammers exploit fear of tax audits to prompt hasty action; after clicking, users are taken to fake pages designed to steal data. It is recommended to verify the sender and ignore suspicious messages. At the same time, the Authority reminded that reservists can apply for compensation for indirect damage from service in May-June 2026 until December 31, 2026. Payments are made within 14 days of the decision, or up to three months if additional review is needed. Citizens are urged to use only official communication channels.
