Israel's Ministry of Health has released the results of a survey of 1,831 doctors who completed their internship in 2025. The survey assessed satisfaction with work and training in various departments, as well as the professional plans of young specialists. Satisfaction levels increased across all major areas. The highest ratings were given to internal medicine departments (73.3%), followed by emergency rooms (70.6%) and pediatrics (69.4%). Surgery remained in last place with 49.1%. Results varied significantly by hospital: the Ziv Medical Center in Safed received some of the best ratings (91% in the emergency room, 90% in pediatrics). Among large hospitals, Ichilov showed high results. Surgery remains the most problematic area: among graduates of Israeli universities, 37.8% were satisfied with it, while among those who graduated from foreign universities, the figure was 54.7%. At the same time, some surgical specialties remain among the most lucrative in Israel. Another issue is the treatment of interns: only 22.1% of graduates of Israeli medical faculties felt like full members of the medical team, compared to 42.4% of those who graduated from foreign universities. Rest conditions during shifts also received low ratings. Among young doctors, the most sought-after specialties are internal medicine, pediatrics, and family medicine. Some specialties are in very low demand: geriatrics was chosen by 27 people, oncology by 23, vascular and neurosurgery by seven each, and radiology by two. The main criteria for choosing a specialty remain interest in the field and the nature of the work.
