Swiss airline resumes flights to Israel, Israir adds direct flight to Marrakech

The Lufthansa Group will expand flights to Israel to 54 per week in August 2026. Swiss resumes flights to Tel Aviv from August 1. Israir launches a direct flight to Marrakech from September starting at $299. Arkia also resumes flights to Marrakech from August 24.

The Lufthansa aviation group will significantly expand flights to and from Israel in August 2026: 54 weekly flights compared to 29 in July. Swiss, a member of the group, will resume flights to Tel Aviv for the first time since March. On Saturday, August 1, its plane will land from Zurich, after which the company will operate a daily flight on this route. In addition to Swiss, Lufthansa will continue to operate two daily flights on the Frankfurt-Tel Aviv route, with two daily flights to Munich added in August. Austrian Airlines will increase flights to Vienna from 11 to 14 per week, and Brussels Airlines will resume one weekly flight to Brussels from August 5. Meanwhile, Israeli carrier Israir will resume a direct flight to Marrakech, Morocco, from September. Ticket prices start at $299 one way. The line is planned to operate until the end of October 2026, with departures on Tuesdays. Earlier, Arkia announced the resumption of its own direct flight to Marrakech after a three-year hiatus, resuming on August 24. Flights will operate twice a week, with prices starting at $329 one way. It was also reported that the Israel Civil Aviation Authority granted Israir a license to operate wide-body Airbus A330 aircraft for long-haul flights, including the route to New York. The company plans to later apply for permits for flights to Japan, Thailand, and Hong Kong.
