A joint investigation by Lahav 433 and the Tax Authority has uncovered serious suspicions of importing drones from China and transferring them to criminal elements in southern Israel. At the center of the affair is a security company from Ashkelon, which allegedly served as a front for importing the drones while committing customs and VAT offenses. The company owner, a resident of Ashkelon in his 30s, and two additional employees were arrested on suspicion of acting as intermediaries and suppliers of drones to smugglers of weapons and drugs. During the investigation, about 30 drones were seized at the company's warehouse. The suspects are being investigated on suspicion of offenses under the Value Added Tax Law and the Customs Ordinance, as well as money laundering and conspiracy to commit a crime. The court extended the detention of two of them until August 25, while the third suspect was released under restrictive conditions. The investigation is ongoing, and police estimate that further arrests are expected in the case.
