Federal authorities in the United States have filed an indictment against Jessica Bowie, 35, on suspicion of attempting to assist ISIS in a plan to carry out an attack on the New York State Capitol building in Albany. According to investigators, Bowie expressed support for ISIS to an undercover FBI agent posing as a member of the organization, and asked him for help in learning how to make explosives. As part of the preparations for the attack, she scouted the Capitol area five times and documented the structure with photographs. According to authorities, Bowie said she wanted to "destroy as much of the building as possible and kill the senators while they are in session." After receiving $200 from a confidential source, she allegedly purchased materials intended for making an explosive device. Additionally, she sought to obtain a gun so she could shoot at police if they tried to stop her during the attack. When asked why she chose the state Capitol specifically, she replied according to the indictment: "Ideally it would have been the White House with the president, but that's an even harder mission." Bowie is charged with attempting to provide material support to a designated foreign terrorist organization.
