Suspected Ebola in Israel: Returned from Congo with fever – transferred to isolation

The ministry completed an epidemiological investigation to identify relevant contacts, and those who were not contacted are not required to take action at this stage. The ministry emphasizes that Ebola is not airborne and that infection occurs through direct contact with a symptomatic patient or with blood, bodily fluids, and secretions. It also notes that no confirmed case of Ebola has been diagnosed in Israel to date. In recent months, the ministry has monitored developments since the Ebola outbreak in Congo, distributed guidelines to medical teams, stocked protective equipment, and established early detection mechanisms. The ministry calls on the public to avoid non-essential travel to active outbreak areas, and for travelers returning from Congo who develop a fever within 21 days to contact the Kol Habriut hotline.
