MK Shalom Danino will run on the national list in the Likud primaries, and not in the southern district as he initially planned, as revealed to Walla. The decision was made after deliberations and is expected to give him the support of Netivot Mayor Yehiel Zohar. The move comes after the approval of Netanyahu and Katz's proposal at the Likud convention by a narrow majority.
Member of Knesset Shalom Danino will run on the national list in the upcoming Likud primaries, and not in the southern district as he initially planned, as revealed to Walla. The decision was made after a series of deliberations and consultations, even though he had already decided to run in the district. The move is expected to give Danino the support of Netivot Mayor Yehiel Zohar, considered one of the most influential figures in the party. Only yesterday it was revealed to Walla that one of the first MKs is expected to run in the southern district in the upcoming primaries. Alongside him, MK Keti Shitrit is also expected to run in the Jerusalem district, as the party estimates this will be her route. Now, Danino is moving up a level and declaring his candidacy on the national list. After the proposal by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Minister Haim Katz, who also serves as chairman of the Likud Central Committee, was approved this week at the Likud convention by a narrow majority of only five votes, it appears that several MKs are preparing to take advantage of the change, which allows sitting MKs to run in districts and slots in the primaries.
