Two of them were hiding in the trunk, and three others were found in the back seat. The driver, a resident of Petah Tikva in his 30s, was also arrested, after an inspection revealed he was suspected of transporting them while his driver's license was suspended. The vehicle was stopped as part of enforcement activity at the crossing, after it aroused the suspicion of the forces. The driver and the five residents were transferred for further investigation at the police station. According to the police, over the past year there has been an increase in the number of arrests of illegal residents and in the filing of indictments in the fight against the phenomenon, including against suspects of transporting and housing them. The commander of the Kiryat Malakhi station, Superintendent Lior Matzrafi, said that the police are continuously working against offenses of employing and housing illegal residents, with cooperation among all enforcement agencies, and that they will continue to act decisively to locate and bring those involved to justice.
