A stray dog that bit a Ramat Gan resident has been found infected with rabies. According to a municipal announcement, on Sunday, August 9, the Ministry of Health received a report about a city resident who was bitten by a stray dog without an owner in Yarkon Park, near the border with Ramat Gan. Following the report, the dog was located, captured, and transferred to the quarantine station. A few hours ago, test results confirmed that the dog is infected with rabies. The Ramat Gan municipality asked to bring the case to the public's attention and called on residents who suspect they came into contact with the sick dog to contact the district health bureau at 12 HaArba'a Street in Tel Aviv as soon as possible. Residents with pets who suspect their pet may have come into contact with the dog are asked to contact the municipal hotline or the veterinary services hotline at 03-6312222 for guidance. Following the incident, the veterinary service of the Ramat Gan municipality will increase patrols in the area where the dog was caught, to ensure there are no other animals with rabies in the area. The municipality asked the public to report any suspicion to the municipal hotline or veterinary services. The municipality also reminded the public to routinely vaccinate pets against rabies, as required by law.
