Storm in Likud primaries: Branch assigned to wrong district - and will stay there

Likud comptroller Shai Galili claims that the Tamra branch was assigned to the Coastal Plain district in the primaries, even though its location is in the Haifa and Galilee area. The chairman of the elections committee responded that due to the delay it cannot be changed now, but promised a correction in the future. Galili, who is running against Efi Nave, fears an impact on the results.

Likud comptroller Shai Galili, who is running in the Coastal Plain district in the primaries, claims that the Tamra branch was assigned to the district even though its geographic location is in the Haifa and Galilee area. In a letter he sent to acting Likud CEO David Sharan and to the chairman of the elections committee, retired judge Menachem Galili, he requested an explanation for the assignment. The chairman of the elections committee responded that due to the "considerable delay" it is not possible to change the assignment now, but promised that "in the future the necessary change will be made." Galili rejects the claim of delay and says he contacted them as soon as he learned of the change. Six candidates are running in the district, including Efi Nave, former head of the Bar Association, and Galili. Galili told "Hayom" that the assignment may help Nave, his rival. Sources familiar with the details claimed that this is part of branch changes and mergers carried out by the Likud. Nave and Sharan did not respond.
