Stole credit card of Holocaust survivor, impersonated nurse - and stole thousands of shekels in property | Suspect
A 55-year-old suspect from the Hadar HaCarmel neighborhood was arrested on suspicion of stealing the credit card of a 90+ year old Holocaust survivor, impersonating a health fund nurse, and stealing additional property from her home. The Haifa Magistrate's Court extended by six days the remand of Liora Nativ Strasberg, 55, from the Hadar HaCarmel neighborhood, on suspicion of additional fraud offenses allegedly committed during her conditional release in a similar case. According to the suspicion, the suspect first stole the credit card of a Holocaust survivor in her 90s during a shared ride. She then went to her home, impersonated a health fund nurse under the pretext of performing medical tests, and stole additional property. Subsequently, she made purchases with the credit card totaling thousands of shekels. The suspect was under electronic monitoring, which she allegedly violated while committing the offenses. In court, her defense attorney, Adv. Amir Marjiya, argued that "the suspect enjoys the presumption of innocence" and that it is a "stigma." Judge Nasrin Adawi accepted the police's position and extended the remand. The investigation is ongoing, and a search of her home revealed credit cards of other individuals, raising suspicion of additional victims.
