Ricky Reif Sinai, star of the film 'Because You're Ugly' by director Sharon Engelhart, was interviewed yesterday (Monday, July 27) on the program 'In the Middle of the Day' on Kan News. Reif Sinai, who works as a kindergarten assistant in Ra'anana, spoke about the similarity between her work in kindergarten and the world of cinema: 'In both, there is a good audience. Children are the most honest audience in the world.' The film, a gritty coming-of-age drama, follows Abigail, a soldier from a complex family background, who gets an opportunity for an officers' course while her sister has an unplanned pregnancy. Reif Sinai won the Best Actress award at the Jerusalem Film Festival for her role. She described the character: 'Abigail is a girl who doesn't quite fit into any framework, she's a bit beastly, violent.' According to her, the character changed thanks to her: 'I added a layer that is more sensitive and more delicate.' Alongside praise, she shared harsh reactions about her appearance: 'People find it hard to see fat women, that's a fact. I received reactions that no matter what I said, the only thing that mattered was that I'm fat and 'yuck'.' She concluded: 'Regardless of me, this film really deserves it. It's such a smart and sensitive film.'
