Stabbings at the soccer field: An argument that started with splashing water left a teenager paralyzed

The State Prosecutor's Office has filed an indictment against two brothers, aged 15 and 16, for assault and stabbing a 14-year-old boy at a soccer field in Yafia, leaving him paralyzed on his left side. One of them is charged with attempted murder. The confrontation began with splashing water and ended with a handshake, but the next day the brothers arrived with a knife, tear gas, and brass knuckles.

The State Prosecutor's Office filed an indictment in the Nazareth District Juvenile Court against two brothers, teenagers aged 15 and 16, for assault and stabbing a 14-year-old boy at a soccer field in the town of Yafia. One of them is charged with attempted murder, after stabbing the boy in the neck and back. According to the indictment, a few days earlier a confrontation developed between one of the defendants and the boy, which ended with them making up and shaking hands. Despite this, the brothers arrived at the field equipped with a knife, tear gas, and brass knuckles. One of the defendants struck the complainant on the head with brass knuckles, and his brother sprayed tear gas at him. While the boy was lying on the ground, the defendant stabbed him in the neck and twice in the back with the intent to cause his death. Afterwards, the two fled and hid for about two weeks until they turned themselves in to the police. The attack left the 14-year-old with severe injuries. He was sedated and ventilated for several days. He is currently in rehabilitation, moving in a wheelchair and suffering from paralysis on his left side. The defendants are charged with aggravated assault, obstruction of justice, and possession of a knife or brass knuckles. Shirin Abd Elmalek, a youth officer at the Nazareth station, said this is a serious and difficult incident and it is hard to believe the boy will return to a normal routine.
