Sports instructor arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting residents with disabilities

A 50-year-old sports instructor, Gilboa Dahan of Netanya, was arrested on suspicion of committing indecent acts against several female minors with cognitive disabilities at a residential facility. The arrest followed a covert police investigation by the Kfar Saba Police Station, which allegedly captured the acts on security cameras. Dahan appeared before the Petah Tikva Magistrate's Court on Thursday, where police requested an extension of his detention. Police allege the footage shows Dahan touching intimate areas of several residents while working as a sports instructor. The alleged victims have cognitive disabilities that prevent them from filing complaints or recounting the events. Dahan denies the allegations, stating any physical contact was to assist the residents. The court extended his detention by four days until Sunday. His attorneys, Amir Kimhi and Yehudit Ella Shaked, said the investigation is ongoing and its conclusion should be awaited. Police are also examining whether there may have been additional cases at other facilities where Dahan worked.
