Southern Israel: Patient was dissatisfied with the hospital - and committed a horrifying act

A 56-year-old resident of Be'er Ya'akov was arrested after setting fire to an electric vehicle near the Assuta Medical Center in Ashdod, claiming he did not receive proper treatment. The vehicle, rented from a couple, was completely burned (total loss), with damage estimated at 103,000 shekels, plus about 5,000 shekels for belongings. The man was arrested at the scene, and security cameras documented the arson. The suspect has a heavy criminal record including violence and threats, as well as past psychiatric hospitalizations. An indictment was filed for arson and intentional damage, and his detention was extended.

The investigation revealed that the suspect has a heavy criminal record including violent offenses, threats, causing damage, harassment, and violating court orders, and that he has served several prison terms and was previously hospitalized in a psychiatric hospital. The prosecution filed an indictment for arson and intentional damage, and requested detention until the end of proceedings. Judge Naser Abu Taha extended his detention until further notice. His defense attorneys, Akram Hassuna and Eitan Friedman from the Public Defender's Office, requested to review the investigation materials.
