"Some Have Already Gotten Used to It": The Shooting Terrorizing Negev Residents Has Become Routine

Following reports of continuous shooting over the weekend in Negev communities, police conducted operations in Hura and Lakiya. In Lakiya, two M16 rifles, 45 fully loaded magazines, and packages of bullets were seized, and two suspects, residents of the community, were arrested. In Hura, forces located a hiding place with 19 grenade launcher rounds of 40mm caliber, 15 fully loaded M16 magazines, and a large quantity of ammunition, and five people were arrested on suspicion of illegal possession and use of weapons. A local resident, Nahman, said that residents have already gotten used to the shooting, praised the police response, but called for significant intervention by the courts and the government, including long prison sentences. The police stated that the operation was intended to thwart shooting incidents and prevent escalation in violent conflicts. The weapons and suspects were transferred to the Ayarot station, and the detainees were brought for remand extension at the Be'er Sheva Magistrate's Court.
