Social Workers Union Declares Labor Dispute in Local Government

The Union of Social Workers has declared a labor dispute in local government, affecting approximately 7,400 workers. The reason: insufficient staffing allocation for implementing a law expanding services for people with disabilities, which increases the workload on existing employees.

The Union of Social Workers within the Histadrut declared a labor dispute today (Monday) in local government, affecting about 7,400 workers. The declaration stems from the implications of implementing the Social Services Law for People with Disabilities, which took effect in 2024, adding new tasks to workers without appropriate staffing allocation. The workload is expected to grow from 207 families per worker in 2024 to 246 families by 2030. Histadrut Chairman Arnon Bar-David said the state cannot impose tasks without ensuring conditions. Union Chair Inbal Hermoni emphasized that the union supports the law but will not agree to its implementation at the expense of workers.
